Inspiring the next generation of digital marketers.

Year 10 marketing work experience

Digital marketing is one of Conn3cted’s specialty service areas, so when we welcomed Year 10 student Delphine for a week of work experience, we were excited to give her a behind-the-scenes look at how our team brings ideas to life.

With a team that spans Gen X, Millennials and early Gen Z, we were just as curious to learn from Delph about the tools and platforms shaping the next generation of digital consumers.

Below, Delph shares her experience – and we share what we learned from her.

What made you want to complete work experience at Conn3cted?

I have always been very interested in the work that Emily, Glenn, and Kelly have done at Conn3cted. I wanted to experience how everything works behind the scenes and learn the processes involved in creating digital products and supporting small businesses.

What did you get to do during the week?

During my time at Conn3cted, I was able to sit through office meetings, experience office work style and create my own small business – which included developing a website, and putting together a presentation on marketing my business.

Did you learn or do anything you didn’t expect to?

I did not expect to learn so much about how detailed and collaborative the marketing process is. I also didn’t expect to have the opportunity to create my own small business idea and website.

What was your favourite part of work experience?

My favourite part of the work experience was being able to experience real marketing work and creating new projects. I especially enjoyed creating my small business and website, as well as presenting my marketing ideas.

What we learned from Delph

Matija Marinovic runs our Work Experience and Internship programs at Conn3cted and learned a lot about the ever changing digital landscape.

“In regards to social media usage, I was expecting TikTok to be popular with Delph and her peers. I was, however, surprised that Instagram is also popular and that Snapchat didn’t get a mention. Nevertheless, it highlights the changing nature of social media usage with each generation.

Delph excelled in using Canva to present her business and marketing campaign, which included mock social posts and EDMs. The platform has been around for a while, but it is interesting to see more school-age students adopt it and become proficient with it.”

Thank you for joining us Delph!

We loved having you join us for the week and seeing your creativity shine. We wish you the best of luck with your studies!
