2019 was a big and fulfilling year at Conn3cted. In this post we reflect on the special moments!
There’s definitely something in the water
In our 2018 retro, we reported that we were expecting Baby number 20 in May 2019. Early this year we discovered that two other team members were expecting, and our baby count now sits at 22!
We entered our teens
Conn3cted celebrated it’s 13th birthday in February at the Altum restaurant in Luna Park, Sydney. Our current and former employees, clients, friends and family joined us against the beautiful backdrop of Sydney Harbour. Click here if you’d like to see more photos from the party!
A change of scenery
After 8 years at Level 4 65 Walker Street, we moved a few hundred metres up the road to Level 5 80 Mount Street. Despite the short distance, it took a long yet rewarding Sunday to move. Our new space is fresh and modern, and we feel like we’re at the centre of everything in North Sydney!
She did it again
Our Project Manager Bernie is known for spilling things, and she christened the new office space before we’d even walked in.
It’s no wonder that our CTO Glenn Murray likes to sing ‘Did it again’ by Kylie Minogue every time she repeats a previous offence.
Welcome back Nicko!
Developer Nick left Conn3cted in December 2016 only to re-join our team earlier this year, to work on a secret, soon to be released project with our CTO Glenn Murray.
All good things come to an end
We love solving problems, and we’re in the final stages of launching a multi-year Fintech project we’ve been working on!
Chill Out Room
We are committed to creating a safe and healthy workplace, and were fortunate enough to have some space to create a Chill Out Room in our office. This room is for members to ‘regenerate’ and look after their health. They can relax, meditate or enjoy some games.
Star Wars Bobble Heads
In case you didn’t know, we’re Star Wars nerds. This year we introduced Bobble Heads to our team to commemorate their work anniversaries. Keeping with the Star Wars order, team members get the following:
- 1 year: Princess Leia or Luke Skywalker
- 3 years: Hans Solo
- 5 years: Obi-Wan Kenobi
- 10 years: Yoda
How cute are they?!
Go orange for PWS!
Each May we go orange to raise awareness for Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) and this year we had another successful campaign!
Our CXO Emily, her family and our CTO Glenn Murray completed one of the ‘Finding 15’ walks across the country to raise funds for life-changing research for PWS!
Potluck lunch
With soooo much happening this year, we didn’t get the chance to have as many potluck lunches as we would’ve liked, but we managed to squeeze in one! The newer team members loved it and we can’t wait to have more in 2020!
We won a competition!
We won The Recruitment Company‘s Gingerbread House competition!
It was a little difficult to not devour the lollies and sweets we were given to help with the construction, but that made the process more fun!
We donated our $500 prize to the Prader-Willi Research Foundation, who are dedicated to improving clinical outcomes and treatments for those with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS).
Ahoy me hearties!
On Friday the 13th of December, we had our annual Christmas Party. The day consisted of a private boat ride around picturesque Sydney Harbour in the morning. This year’s theme was ‘Pirate Christmas’ and our team members enjoyed getting into character.
We made a pit stop near Taronga Zoo for a refreshing swim, followed by lunch at Casa Ristorante in King Street wharf.
The day finished at Greenwood Hotel, where old and new members capped off an eventful and successful 2019 for Conn3cted!
